Hole 1

A relatively straightforward opening Par 4 hole that generally plays with a helping south westerly prevailing wind. Golfers will be greeted with a generous wide and undulating fairway to help get their rounds underway. Like most tee shots at Sanctuary Lakes the closer your tee shots get to the deep fairway bunkers, the better the angle that opens up for your approach shots into the green. A missed tee shot right of the fairway will result in a difficult blind second shot out of thick fescue rough. A well struck tee shot will leave a mid-iron to the green. Longer hitters who can get over the rise will gain extra metres and leave a relatively easy pitch up to an elevated green protected by a large deep bunker short right, and a tricky smaller pot bunker on the left-hand side. Avoid missing the green left of, or in the pot bunker, or down in the deep swale on the right-hand side, as an up and down will prove very difficult.

A miss short of the green will allow for easy access to all pin positions.
